Help on Sellling a Domain

Why should I sell a Domain name that I own?
You should consider selling a domain name if any of the following situations apply: 1) If you have registered a domain name but will not use the domain name for an active web site or for your internet business; 2) If you have purchased a previously registered domain name but will not use the domain name for an active web site or for your internet business; 3) If you would like to make a profit on the sale of this asset, and free up the domain name address for someone else to use as a web site. How do I sell a Domain name or Web site ?
NamesDotCom does not charge a fee to list a domain name or a web site for sale, we only require you to become a member of NamesDotCom. There is a very small membership fee. However, if we find an interested party that wants to buy your listed domain name or web site, then we will charge a Commission of 3.0% of the sales price plus escrow fees to properly transfer the registration through InterNIC. If the domain name or web site fails to sell, then there is no commission or escrow fee charged. To list a domain name or web site for sale contact us at: domainsales@namesdotcom.com

Is it also possible to lease the domain name to an interested party?
Yes. If you list a domain name for lease you are not relinquishing the title to the domain name. Instead, you will enter into a contract with an interested party to lease the domain name for a monthly rental payment. The lease may be for 1 month or more. NamesDotCom will charge a Commission of 3.0% of the total lease payments up to a maximum of 12 months. Thus, if the member wanted to lease the domain name for $100 for 2 months, the commission calculation is $100 x 2 mo. = $200 x .03 = $6.
If the lease was for 36 months then the commission would be $100 x 36 mo. = $3,600 x .03 = $108. After the term expires, the owner can take back the domain name, extend the lease, or sell it for any price without further cost or assistance of NamesDotCom. What if I find my own buyer, independent of your service?
Our listing is an exclusive agreement for the term of the listing. A commission may be charged if you find a buyer on your own during the term of the listing. See the User Agreement for further details.

What price should I set for my listed Domain name or Web site?
The best price to set for your domain name or web site may actually be no price at all. "Make an Offer" is the truest form of free market and fair market valuation that is possible. However, you may want to use the NamesDotCom appraisal services which is based on our proprietary pricing model referred to as DotMarketValue or DMV. However, because the internet is still in its infancy and because there is still a level of volatility to the internet marketplace, all pricing models and appraisal services are not necessarily consistent. To list a domain name or web site for sale go to Sell a Domain. Notice that prices of High Profile domain names range from $50,000 to $7 million. However, most domain names will range from less than $1,000 to $50,000. A good estimate of the current average price range of all domains available for sale worldwide might be $10,000 to $20,000. Each domain name is unique however and that by itself makes it difficult to appraise. At first, by listing a domain or web site as "Make an Offer" (and having an internal minimum price that you would accept) you will get a true feel for the market. Later on you may want to set a specific price or amend the listed price up or down. To list a domain name or web site for sale contact us at: domainsales@namesdotcom.com
